![]() ![]() It's easy to decry and compare to its contemporaries, but it needs to be kept in mind that PDZ was much like GoldenEye in that it paved the way for a new console generation of shooters. Wouldn't surprise me if the focus on action was a Microsoft edict, as it lends itself to much more promotional footage, and they went all-in with promoting PDZ. Firing from behind cover was incredibly satisfying. Less stealth, more action, but also action-stealth with the way blockades would sometimes be provided. It just focused more on certain elements than others. ![]() The folks who worked on 007 and PD had left to form their own company, and of course, Rare couldn't do anything without them. The way many view Rare today is the way people looked at Free Radical, Time Splitters, and PDZ. What do you perfect dark fans regard so bad about the second installment? As i said i am playing the first one and will play zero when i get around to it. You really have nothing to lose by playing Zero first. I mean, it was full of cliches, but it was still fun through and through. Zero's story connects to the original in some very superficial ways, but you won't care anyway because the story in PDZ is so fucking bad. It may be acceptable on its own, but the problem is, that's not acceptable for a follow-up to one of the greatest games of all time.ĭon't worry about the story. It's a fun game more often than not, and it's still more enjoyable than 90% of first-person shooters. The multiplayer doesn't hold a candle to the original's, but it's still very fun. ![]() I remember the graphics being amazing, but while time hasn't been super kind to them, they still hold up well enough. ![]() It's got some cool fanservice here and there, but not enough to really win you over. It tries a lot at times, but it's not that it fails at its ambitions, it's that the game is being very safe when it's not being ambitious. Is it maybe better to just play Zero first so expectations aren't as high? I've never played either so I don't know how connected they are in terms of story. ![]()
